Leaks are almost always a process issue, not a hardware defect. This guide isolates the four root causes and gives you a repeatable checklist to qualify each lot before it ships.

Cause 1: Overfill

Exceeding rated capacity removes the headspace that absorbs thermal expansion. As cartridges warm in transit, displaced oil migrates to the mouthpiece. Fix: dose to spec and verify shot weight.

Cause 2: Airpath contamination

Oil dispensed into or splashing onto the central airpath wicks upward and pools at the mouthpiece. Fix: dispense against the reservoir wall and keep nozzles clean.

Cause 3: Incomplete seating

A cap that is cocked or under-pressed leaves a microscopic gap at the gasket. Fix: center the cap, apply even axial force, and pull-test samples.

Cause 4: Pressure & temperature swings

Air freight and hot vehicles create pressure differentials that push thin oil through the intake. Fix: cap fully, avoid thinning oil excessively, and condition product before shipping.
